Interesting facts Rožmberk Castle

You can visit the castle museum
The last owners of the castle were lovers of art objects. Thanks to their hobby, you can see a valuable collection of paintings, glass, porcelain, furniture and weapons in the castle today, which are located in the part of the castle that serves as a museum. In addition to classic tours, you can also take evening tours here, where your guides will be members of the Rosenberg family - for example, the well-known Petr Vok from Rožmberk.

The castle has retained its original beauty
The castle from the middle of the 13th century was the center of the Rosenberg estate and the residence of the ruler of the family. Rožmberk consisted of two castles, which were connected by a drawbridge. Significant building alterations to the Gothic castle took place in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, and Rožmberk became a Renaissance seat. Only the tower of the upper castle has been preserved, the lower part has suffered as a manor house. Reconstruction in the 19th century preserved the Gothic character of the castle in the spirit of Romanticism.

Meet the White Mrs. Perchta
During the tour you will get to a room called the Rosenberg. Here hangs a picture of a lady in white, the White Lady, who is the protector of the members of the family. This is said to be Mrs. Percht. Legend has it that Mrs. Perchta was married against her will and experienced a hell in her marriage, from which she was freed until her husband's death. After returning to Rožmberk, she took care of the farm and was a kind protector of all those who suffered. After her death, she began to appear in the Rosenberg castles. She cared for babies, and her smile foretold happiness, sadness, misfortune, or death.
