Interesting facts Žďár nad Sázavou - Water reservoir Velké Dářko - Ždár nad Sázavou

First, take a look at the center of Žďár nad Sázavou. Start on the street called Santini, in its lower part there is a beautiful stone baroque bridge, a short distance from it is the area of the local castle with a former monastery and two museums (Piano Museum and Book Museum). You can also notice several bodies of water right in the city. Specifically, the Konvenský and Bránský ponds, which you will pass tightly.

At the northern exit from the city is also another reservoir - v.n. Pilská. On its shore there is also a caravan park with the possibility of accommodation in a caravan, tent or cottage. Continue to its edge along Santiniho Street, on which the cycle route No. 5061 will be added by the reservoir, along which you will drive to the village of Polnička. This crossing leads mostly along the contour line, so the steep climb will not surprise you here. You can also choose an alternative path - even more profiled along the bank of the reservoir.

In the village Polnička there is a small area with a private railway for children, go-karts, a small water attraction, a short cable car and an exhibition of pets. There is, of course, a restaurant with snacks. It is less than five kilometers from here to your destination. Stick to the red markings, at the end of Polnička the road starts to rise slightly, but it's nothing sharp. After a few hundred meters you enter the forest and on the left side of the road appears Kamenný rybník. There are also many swamps and peat bogs around the road. This is even a natural monument at Kamenný rybník. Further on the way you can see a smaller Iron Pond and a large New Pond, even with a fishing bastion and seating. The path will take you along the shore above the cottage area.

It is a short walk to the destination. The red sign leads directly to the dam of the tank, so you will have a nice overview. Velké Dářko is not a dam, but a pond, which previously served mainly as a water reservoir for driving industrial facilities on the Sázava River. Today it is used as a recreational area, with the possibility of swimming, boating or fishing.

To return, use the same route, it is the shortest and most comfortable route.
