Interesting facts Lookout tower on Ruprechtický Špičák

This iron lookout tower, which also serves as a transmitter and is located on Ruprechtický Špičák, approximately 6 km from Meziměstí to the northeast and 35 km from Náchod to the north. It is located at an altitude of 880 meters and was officially opened to tourists on September 1, 2002.

A total of 100 steps lead to the viewing platform. The lookout tower has a total height of 30 meters and the observation deck is located at a height of 22 meters. From the viewpoint you will have a beautiful view of the Broumov basin, Broumov walls, part of Bor, Turnov or Orlické mountains and more.

Directly from Meziměstí you can get here along the road marked with a blue tourist sign. This road is about 8 km long. The yellow tourist sign will take you here from Ruprechtice. Both of these paths have a relatively high elevation.
If you come here by car, it is possible to park it in the parking area near Ruprechtice and from there follow the yellow sign to the lookout tower.
If you want to continue the walk, you can walk all the way to Janovičky, where a blue tourist sign leads from the lookout tower, and from where you can descend freely to Broumov.

The lookout tower is freely accessible and open to the public daily without restrictions. Ruprechtický Špičák is the highest mountain in the Náchod district and at the same time in the Javořičské mountains. We find it near the border with Poland.

Since 1999, the Broumov Forest Administration has been planning to build a wooden lookout tower on this site. As usual, they lacked to implement finances. The situation improved a bit when Český Mobil wanted to build its transmitter at this location.

Finally, in 2000, a metal structure 30 meters high was built for Špičák, serving as a transmitter and a lookout tower at the same time.
The lookout tower was ceremoniously opened on September 1, 2002. You would find a lookout tower of almost the same construction near the town of Králíky in Eastern Bohemia. Thanks to the felling of trees in 2007, the view improved not only from the lookout tower, but also from the road leading to it.
