The iron lookout tower is located in the Jestřábí Mountains at an altitude of 741 meters. Its total height is 12 meters and a total of 51 steps will take you to the viewpoint. It was officially opened to tourists on September 24, 1967.

From the lookout tower it is possible to see the panorama of the Giant Mountains, Rýchory, Teplice-Adršpach rocks, Javoří and Soví mountains, Trosky, Broumov walls, Orlické mountains, Králický Sněžník and others.

The lookout tower can be reached on foot along one of the tourist marked paths. One leads from Malé Svatoňovice and is marked in blue, then green. This road is about 4 km long and has a large elevation. You can also start from Petříkovice, from where it is about 12 km to the lookout tower. Žaltman, the highest peak of the Jestřábí Mountains, can be found about 10 km east of Trutnov. The lookout tower was first put into operation here in 1967.
However, the construction of the lookout tower on Žaltman was already planned by the Czech Tourists Club in 1921, which even organized a public collection because of it. In the next five years, it was planned to build a tourist cottage here together with a lookout tower, but none of the plans was ever implemented.

TJ Sokol Malé Svatoňovice and the Czech Tourists Club were at the birth of the current lookout tower. Josef Bernard, a locksmith who also led local volunteers, took over the work completely free of charge. Today, the lookout tower is in the care of the Czech Tourists Club and the local municipal office.
