Interesting facts Slavonice fortress complex

The Slavonice fortress complex perfectly shows the defense system, consisting of observation and firing intersections, anti-tank obstacles up to 200 meters long, and nine reconstructed light fortifications (řopíky), which faithfully imitate the situation from the period of mobilization in 1838.

Visitors have access to two fully equipped and armed bunkers with original machine guns and rifles, a functional hand fan, observation periscopes, crew equipment and other equipment. The tour of the buildings is led by a guide who provides visitors with an expert explanation and visitors also have the opportunity to buy tourist stamps, fortress literature or postcards. All buildings in the area are connected by a nature trail, which is complemented by information boards.

"Oživený řopík" - this is the name of the event for visitors, which is held here every year during the summer holidays, specifically during the first Saturday in July. There are demonstrations of bunker fire and an extended implementation action, during which three bunkers with equipment and armament are made available. On the first Saturday in August, there is a traditional combat demonstration of the 1938 Assault.

Within the light fortification exhibitions, the area in Slavonice ranks among the most famous and best in the Czech Republic.
