Beskydy - mountains
The Beskydy Mountains are a place where the beauty of wild nature is sensitively combined with human dwellings set in the landscape. You will find them on the easternmost edge of the Czech Republic, at the border with Slovakia and Poland, and it is here that you can be convinced that even a long history of human coexistence with nature can benefit both parties. There are well-preserved deep dense forests, where rare Carpathian animals such as bears, wolves and lynxes, vast pastures and also typical Wallachian architecture can be found.

Interesting facts Beskydy - mountains
The Beskydy Mountains are very rugged and heavily forested, a substantial part of which was already declared a protected landscape area in 1973, with its area of 1,160 km2 the largest in the Czech Republic. The highest peak of the Beskydy Mountains is Lysá hora, reaching a height of 1323 m above sea level. As its name suggests, its top is bare. However, you will find a typical symbol in the form of a telecommunications transmitter and a tourist cottage. The hike to Lysá hora is quite demanding, but the reward will be a breathtaking view of the entire Beskydy, Jeseníky, Low and High Tatras and Mala Fatra. The second highest mountain in the Beskydy is Smrk, which reaches 1276 m above sea level. On its slopes lies the nature reserve Smrk, where the original spruce and beech vegetation has been preserved, in some places stony and boulder rubble forming rocky seas and springs of streams.
Another very well-known and popular tourist peak is the mountain Radhošť. Its peak at an altitude of 1129 m.n.m. he is also plain and entwined with legends. According to legend, the Slavic god of war, the sun and victory Radegast was supposed to live here. You can see his statue if you go to the top in the direction from Pusteven, it is located about halfway. Pustevny Mountain Saddle is an important tourist center and also a beautiful place that is definitely worth a visit. Today, one of the most important architects at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Dušan Jurkovič, imprinted its typical appearance. With its richly decorated wooden buildings, evoking the impression of folk architecture, he lent this mountain mansion its unique charm.
When visiting the Beskydy and Wallachia, you must not miss the town of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, where the largest and oldest open-air museum in Central Europe is located. You will see 150 monuments of typical folk architecture and learn all about the life of the ancestors of the locals. The open-air museum consists of three parts, the Wooden Town, Mlýnská dolina and Valašská dědina, and together with Pustevny it is managed by the Wallachian Open-Air Museum. Even in Rožnov you can visit the typical fairytale building of Dušan Jurkovič. It has Jurkovič's lookout tower on Charles Hill above the Wallachian village. It was built only in 2009, but exactly according to the sketches of the famous architect and using the most faithful materials and procedures of the time. There are many lookout towers here throughout the Beskydy Mountains and the view from all of you will surely enchant you. One of the others is, for example, the Čarták lookout tower, located not far from the border crossing with Slovakia, Bumbálka.
North of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, the town of Štramberk can be an interesting destination for a trip. Its dominant feature is undoubtedly the Štramberk castle and especially its former castle tower Štramberská trúba, which serves as a lookout tower. You can also visit, for example, the ruins of Hukvaldy Castle. An interesting town is also Frýdek-Místek, where you will find, among other things, the Beskydy Museum, which is located in Frýdek-Místek Castle. Here you can see both the museum's collections and the castle circuit. In Nošovice you have the opportunity to see how the local Radegast beer is brewed. An excursion in the brewery will certainly be a pleasant and engaging way to diversify your trip. In Kopřivnice, mainly gentlemen and boys will enjoy themselves, as the Tatra Kopřivnice Technical Museum is located here. There are sixty cars and trucks to see from the entire history of this carmaker and many other attractions.
