Hůrka Artillery Fortress

The large modern fortress Hůrka is the easiest fortress in the Czech Republic. It was part of the Czechoslovak fortress system, it houses a museum and can be visited all year round. Hůrka Fortress is a unique military-historical monument, which was one of five artillery fortresses completed by 1938.

Interesting facts Hůrka Artillery Fortress

Hůrka Fortress includes a total of 5 buildings - log cabins, built in the highest degree of resistance. Below the earth's surface, the individual log cabins are connected by a highly extensive system of halls and corridors with a total length of 1.75 km. The objects were resistant to all weapons that were known at the time.

The fortress includes:

• Two infantry cabins
• Artillery cabin - the largest type of combat object MS. fortification
• Entrance cabin
• Object for a rotating and retractable turret

In the underground, halls for the power plant, ammunition depot, kitchen, infirmary or barracks are preserved and can accommodate about 400 men.

During the tour of the Hůrka artillery fortress, it is possible to see a number of rare exhibits, including, for example, a functional inclined elevator, the original sliding armored gate or locomotive and wagons of the narrow-gauge railway. Exhibitions are also held underground and new exhibits are installed.

Hůrka Fortress is located in the direction north of the town of Králíky. If you want to take a trip on foot, you can set off from the local Great Square, from where the journey takes about a quarter of an hour. It is open all year round and parking is available on site.
