Interesting facts Rezek - a former spa

Rezek Spa in the period of the First Republic

In earlier times, the Rezek Spa was widely sought after by people from higher levels of society. In the summer of 1877, they were even visited by Jan Neruda or Miroslav Tyrš. It was during the First Republic that the local spa celebrated its greatest success. Guests from faraway Prague also spent their summer stay here.

At present, the Rezek Spa is slowly regaining its fame. A hotel has been built here where you can spend a pleasant holiday or a healing weekend.

Chapel of St. Barbory

If you want to go to the former spa Rezek, choose, for example, the walking New Town circuit, which will take you to this place. Near the main spa building, do not forget to visit the chapel dedicated to St. Barbara, built in 1736. Right inside the chapel you will find a spring of healing water, which according to the saint is called Barborka.

Written sources mention the source for the first time in connection with the year 1620. In 1792, the Rezek spa was bought by Count Antonín Leslie, who had the original wooden building demolished and a new brick building built, which also included guest rooms. In 1801, another of the spa buildings was built here, and construction continued in 1866, when a large hall was built.

TIP: In the vicinity of the Rezek spa, you can go on a trip, for example, to the nearby ruins of the Výrov castle, which is hidden in the middle of forests near Nové Město nad Metují.
