Northern Bohemia, these are sandstone towns, volcanic hills, mountains, hop gardens and the lunar landscape of coal basins. And in all this wonderful views, monuments, nature trails and bike paths.
The North Bohemian pride is the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, where the Pravčická brána rock bridge, the Děčínský Sněžník table mountain, sandstone towers and deep ravines, rock castles (eg Šaunštejn), log cabins and old mills are located. You can diversify your tourism by sailing through the gorges on the river Kamenice or via ferrata on the Shepherd's Wall in Děčín.
The Bohemian Central Mountains are dotted with basalt conical peaks, including Milešovka, Varhošť and the memorable Říp mountain with the rotunda of St. Jiří. You can cycle through the impressive Elbe canyon called Porta Bohemica.
The Českolipsko region includes the Lusatian Mountains, the surroundings of Mácha's Lake and the Kokořín region with sandstone formations. There is also Panská skála - the famous "stone organ".
You will discover beautiful hiking trails in the Jizera Mountains. Their dominants include Ještěd, Smrk or Tanvaldský Špičák mountains, the ruptured Desná dam, the Souš and Josefův důl reservoirs, the Jizera forest, the Jizerka peat bog and the Černá Desná waterfalls. The most interesting lookout towers are, for example, Královka, Bramberk, Císařský kámen and Černá Studnice.
Northern Bohemia is also covered by the Ore Mountains with the highest peak Klínovec, water reservoirs Fláje and Přísečnice, spa springs, peat bogs and mining galleries.
A piece of Bohemian Paradise in picturesque Pojizeří also extends into northern Bohemia. The destination of the trip here can be, for example, Bozkovské caves, rock castle Sloup and Rotštejn, mountain Kozákov or romantic views in Suché skaly.
There are countless castles and chateaux in northern Bohemia. The most interesting are the castles Bezděz, Houska, Frýdlant, Grabštejn, the water castle Budyně nad Ohří and the ruins of the castles Trosky, Hazmburk, Střekov, Frýdštejn or Hasištejn. Of the castles, the Baroque Lemberk, Libochovice, Jezeří and Ploskovice, the Renaissance Zákupy and Svijany, the Rococo chateau Peruc, the classicist Duchcov, the neo-Gothic Hrubý Rohozec and the castles Roudnice nad Labem and Děčín with beautiful gardens are worth a visit. A tip for a trip is also the Terezín concentration camp.
And where to go on a trip with children? To the Liberec IQ park, the medieval courtyard of Curia Vitkov, the botanical garden or to the ZOO with white tigers. Chomutov, Ústí nad Labem and Děčín also have their ZOO. The Březno u Loun archeological open-air museum and the Horka pod Ještědem forest park with natural attractions are also interesting for the family trip.
Great natural swimming is offered by Mácha's Lake (aqua park in the area of Staré splavy), Nechranická dam, Žernosecky lake, Jablonec dam Mšeno, Milada lake and unique Kamencové lake.
