Vrátno windmill

In the middle of the fields near Vrátna stands a windmill of the Dutch type, a nice-looking building with a high shingled roof, a dummy wind rose and a new white facade. It was built by Václav Mareček, a local landowner, and was built by Medos ze Mšen, a master mason, in 1870. A quarry stone made of sandstone quarries was used to build the mill. The windmill near Vrátna is one of the most beautiful mills in the Czech Republic.

It has an unusually high roof with dormers, which unfortunately is no longer original, as well as a windmill, which was inserted here during the reconstruction at the end of the 20th century. Soon after the reconstruction, the mill began to decay again.

At present, the mill near Vrátna is in the hands of a private owner and is adapted for the construction of a family house. There is also a family house from the 1990s on the plot on which it is located, which served as housing for the caretaker. The building includes 5 + 1 rooms, while on the first floor there is an entrance hall with a staircase, a living room with a fireplace and a kitchenette. On the second floor there is also a hallway with a staircase, two living rooms and a bathroom. On the third floor there is a hallway with a staircase, bathroom, toilet, living room with fireplace and a spiral staircase that leads to the attic living space.
