The possibilities where to go on a trip in South Moravia are as diverse as its sub-areas. In the Moravian Karst you can go for stalactite caves, to the abyss Macocha or to Boskovice with its Jewish quarter, monumental ruins and an Empire castle.
Slovácko is colorful as well as its costumes and dulcimer tones. Here you can enjoy hiking in the White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area dotted with mountain huts, windmills and wild orchid flowers. A pleasant cycling route lines the Baťa canal, a unique technical monument where boat cruises are held. Other attractive places include, for example, the spa town of Hodonín or the folklore open-air museum Strážnice.
Romantic Pálava with endless vineyards is nicknamed "Czech Provence". In addition to the winery, it is worth visiting the ruins of Děvičky Castle, take a bike path around the Nové Mlýny dam and admire beautiful Mikulov, where you will find a Renaissance chateau, Jewish monuments and a holy hill with the Stations of the Cross and amazing views. A monument of world importance is the Lednice-Valtice area, which hides two castles, the ruins of Janův hrad, a minaret, a classicist colonnade and a tropical greenhouse.
In the Znojmo region, there is the Podyjí National Park with river meanders surrounded by forests and meadows, sunny heaths and rocky views. After a natural swim, head to the sandy beach by the Vranov reservoir. Athletes will enjoy over a thousand kilometers of wine cycling routes and lovers of monuments the royal city of Znojmo with the castle, the rotunda of St. Catherine and the medieval underground.
When visiting South Moravia, the vibrant culture of Brno cannot be overlooked. Here stands Špilberk Castle and the UNESCO-listed Villa Tugendhat. A tip for a trip with children is the Brno Zoo with popular polar bears, the Brno Botanical Garden or the Aqualand Moravia water park.
You can also take trips to South Moravian castles such as the popular filmmakers Milotice, Lysice with an elegant colonnade, Slavkov u Brna with an extensive castle garden, the Baroque Vranov nad Dyjí, the Renaissance Bučovice or the Classicist Dukovany.
