The lookout tower of the steel structure on the Podvrší hill, which also serves as a transmitter for the mobile operator, is located about 1 km from Veselice to the southwest and approximately 10 km from Blansko to the northeast. It was officially opened on August 4, 2001.

The lookout tower will offer visitors a view of the Drahanská Highlands, the Moravian Karst and Pálava. The viewing platform is located at a height of 32 meters above the ground and a total of 168 steps lead to it. The total height of the lookout tower is 49 meters.

In May and June, you can reach the lookout tower on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 2 pm to 7 pm on Fridays and on weekends from 9 am to 7 pm. During the summer holidays it is open daily from 9 am to 7 pm. In September and October, the lookout tower is open on Fridays from 2 pm to 6 pm and on weekends from 9 am to 6 pm.

The Moravian Karst is a popular tourist area, especially because it has a lot to offer. In addition to caves, abysses and magical nature, there are also lookout towers. One of them is the Podvrší u Veselice lookout tower in the Blansko district.


In the 1920s, a triangulation point was marked on this hill, near which a wooden tower 21 meters high was built, which is also used for surveying purposes. After the Second World War, however, its condition was bad, and so it was removed.


At the beginning of the new millennium, a new tower was built on the Podvrší hill, serving as a transmitter for the mobile operator. The construction project was prepared by Jan Tomčala from Teplotechna Ostrava and Eurotel became the investor. The cost of the almost fifty-meter-high tower at that time climbed to 9.5 million crowns, including the cost of building access roads.


The construction of the tower began on April 17, 2001 and was completed in just three months. The grand opening took place on August 4, 2001 and was accompanied by a rich accompanying program.


The lookout tower is very popular among tourists and a number of cultural events are held there. One of them is the Easter fair or a run to the lookout tower or the opening of the tourist season.


At present, the lookout tower is operated by the Vavřinec Municipal Office.
