Interesting facts Březinka

The area was declared a nature reserve in 1973. Its total area is 6.36 ha and you can find it in the district of the School Forest Plant of the University of Křtiny, in the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area. Beech stands on Devonian limestone are typical for it.


In the middle of a romantic meadow at the beginning of a shallow gorge valley, there is a monument to Josef Opletal. Josef Opletal was the leading representative of the Faculty of Forestry in Brno. The memorial was unveiled in 1959 during the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the faculty. On the black board is the inscription Ing. Dr. h.c. Josef Opletal 1863 - 1953. The board is set in a massive stone block made of reddish conglomerate from Babí lom.


Near Březinka there are the famous Punkva caves through which the river Punkva flows. They are followed by the abyss Macocha.
