When visiting the Znojmo region, you cannot miss the Uherčice chateau complex. Gardens, park, representative and residential premises, farm and administrative buildings form a single complex. The castle is still in poor condition, because in the last century it was owned by the state farm and the army and was used for other purposes. However, it is a unique opportunity to see what the individual phases of the sensitive restoration of the monument look like. The various artistic epochs of building history, which can be observed in Uherčice, will allow you to get acquainted with the typical features of various styles in one place.

The castle is constantly being renewed
Thanks to the change of regime, you can see the Uherčice chateau even today. The castle was included in the program of preservation of architectural heritage and is comprehensively restored. During the repairs, the tour is modified, but you will still see many unique art objects and works. The chateau chapel, the representation rooms of the west wing, the baroque chamber theater and the banquet hall are open to the public. The interiors are gradually placed original period equipment and it is possible to visit an exhibition of works by contemporary artists.
The castle was rebuilt many times
Uherčice Castle stands on the site of a Gothic fortress from the 15th century. After a short time, the first reconstruction took place into a Renaissance chateau, and since then the chateau has been constantly rebuilt. Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque - all possible building elements can be found in the castle in abundance. The saddest stage in the history of the chateau was the period after expropriation in the 20th century. There were first flats in the chateau, then a warehouse, and there was a gradual devastation. At present, the chateau is being reconstructed at great expense. Similarly, the castle park was released - it is still being renewed.
Uherčice Castle will enchant you
Uherčice Castle also has beautiful surroundings. The castle garden and park will also welcome you with ponds with swans, a stork's nest and beautiful trees. The park was complemented by small buildings and art objects, but unfortunately only a small ruin of the castle and obelisk have been preserved. Nevertheless, a visit to the castle and its surroundings is a benefit - you can watch the conservationists in the various stages of restoration work.
