From the castle to the Renaissance chateau
The first mention of Pecka Castle comes from the middle of the 14th century. The name Pecka is also the family name of the first owners. In the later period, the castle changed owners several times and during the Hussite wars it was besieged. The castle was rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau, the last modifications were made by Kryštof Harant from Polžice and Bezdružice. After his execution, the chateau became the property of the Wallensteins and began to decay. A great fire in 1830 completed the work of destruction. In 1921, the castle was owned by the village of Pecka, thanks to which you can now visit at least the renovated Harant Palace.
