Břecštejn (ruins)

The monument, first mentioned in 1336, is one of the so-called Silesian-type castles. This means that the castle itself, including the tower and interior, is surrounded by a single perimeter wall. The first owner of the homestead was the knight Otto of Stein, who worked in the Trutnov region.

Interesting facts Břecštejn (ruins)

Over time, the old seat disappeared and today it only blossomed with the intervention of the Zilvár family, who have been operating here since the middle of the 15th century. In addition to a safe fortress on a relatively small steep rock, they built a resting gazebo in the southern tip and increased the upper part by a wooden floor. Hence the distorted name. The original Brettstein (plank castle) was changed to a later name, used today.

You will no longer find a gazebo or a wooden part of the mansion here. But that doesn't matter at all. The small area together with solid walls, niches, small windows, paired with a view of the peaks of the Giant Mountains, whether Černá hora, Světlá hora, Studniční and Luční hora together with Sněžka, will not let you sleep anyway. But in a good way. The memory of this place will come back to you for a long time to come as a dream of a perfect paradise.

The ruins of Břecštejn are among those you would like to have a short distance behind the house and hide in its bowels whenever you feel nostalgia. And how not to take a positive attitude towards the region in which former President Václav Havel rested? What about the region! Just to this location. A few meters from the ruins of the castle lies Hrádeček (otherwise also part of the eponymous nature park) with the cottage of our important statesman. It's a pity you can't see his person today. So at least close your eyes and dream. You will forget about all your worries so far.
