Interesting facts Lookout tower on Hořidly near Chotiněves

It is located at an altitude of 371 meters and was officially opened to tourists in 2008. A total of 67 steps lead to the viewing platform at a height of 13 meters, while the total height of the lookout tower is 14 meters. From the viewpoint there is a nice view of České Středohoří, Dokská pahorkatina, Říp, Ještěd and the Buková hora transmitter.

You can easily get to the lookout tower, for example, from the transformer from the village of Jištěrpy or from the reservoir in Chotiněves. Another option is to go here from the torments of the road Encovany-Třebutičky, across the meadow and around the forest nursery and further through the forest. However, this road has a slightly worse terrain and is not even marked. All these roads can be muddy in the rain.

The lookout tower is freely accessible and open daily without restrictions.

The local lookout tower was built on the initiative of Messrs. Andrýsk and Procházka from Třebutička. In 2008, they submitted this idea to the municipal management. The municipality of Chotiněves subsequently bought the necessary plots from the Land Fund of the Czech Republic and announced a tender for the construction of a lookout tower. At the end of the summer of 2008, it was decided that Atlas Steel would carry out the construction. She built the lookout tower in the autumn and on December 16, 2008, the building was approved.

However, this lookout tower is not the first building to stand on Hořidly. Until the time after the Second World War, this place used to house a restaurant with a viewing platform, the torso of which can be found near today's lookout tower.
