Ještěd cable car

Ještěd may not be the highest mountain in the Czech Republic, but it belongs to its TOP. It must also be said that its elevation is significant, in some places it can be said to be murderous. It is therefore logical that people wanted to make their journey easier, and therefore, not only because of their passion for skiing, they built a gondola lift here. This cable car has a number of unique features and is currently the only one - the last cable car operated by Czech Railways.

Interesting facts Ještěd cable car

The gondola lift has been in operation here since 1933, and in 1975 it underwent extensive reconstruction. The plan to build a cable car was prepared by Ing. Roman Wienbergerm representative of Adolf Bleichert a spol. from Leipzig. It was originally the second Czech suspended cabin (after that in Montenegro, which no longer exists). Czech Railways has been running it since 1945. The cable car is one of the Czech major technical monuments.

The cable car runs up and down all year round at regular intervals. The cable car does not run only due to adverse weather conditions. One trip takes only 4 minutes and its top speed is 10m per second. The height difference of the whole track is 400 meters and the sloping length of the track is 1183 m.

The lower stop of the cable car is located in Horní Hanychov, 1 km on foot along the plain from the final tram stop (number 2). There is a parking lot below.
