Točník

If you look at the Točník castle and its surroundings, you will see that it stands in a special place - on a rock very close to the lower Žebrák castle. This created the best-preserved enclosure in our country. If you are interested in castles, you should definitely not miss Točník - this is a unique building that is very close to the castle. In addition to the castle itself, you can admire its dominant position in the landscape and breathtaking views of the distant surroundings.

What can you see on Točník?
In addition to individual castle spaces, Točník also offers you a unique exhibition - an overview of the types of castles in Bohemia and Moravia. The Točník castle model serves as an example of the transition from the castle to the chateau. The representation was a heraldic frieze with ten gables, which is located above the western entrance. There is the coat of arms of the Roman emperor, the Czech king, the margrave of Moravia, the count of Luxembourg and six other princes. You will also be amazed by a functional replica of a medieval crane, powered by human power. The replica was made using period technologies. The replica was used to repair the trusses of the castle and now functions as an exhibit.

Wenceslas IV. he longed for a comfortable, at the same time safe, yet more magnificent representative seat. After the fire of the Žebrák castle, which could not be expanded anyway, he preferred to build a new castle - and so the Točník castle was built at the end of the 14th century. Safety, the possibility of hunting and also the country trail to Nuremberg in the immediate vicinity provided Václav with more safety and comfort than a stay in Prague. During the Hussite wars, the castle served as a pledge, it was besieged by the Hussites, but was not conquered. The owners of the castle took turns, in the 16th century a renaissance reconstruction was carried out and a well was dug. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle was abandoned and began to fall into disrepair. In the twentieth century, the owners of the castles Točník and Žebrák sold the club to Czechoslovak tourists, today the castles are the property of the state.

Do you like rumors about white ladies? Even on the walls of Točník it was possible to see a white figure. She once approached a farmer working in a field and asked for his release. His task was to come to Prague and in the Church of St. He welcomes the fact that Mass can be celebrated behind the white lady. He had to beg for money on Mass along the way. The farmer did everything as the white lady asked for. The white lady was liberated and the peasant's descendants protected the prayer books that their ancestor had in Prague and on which was the handprint of the white lady from Točník.
