Chateau Žleby

Žleby Chateau is one of the castles that will enchant you with its delicate charm and atmosphere. At first glance, it will seem to you that the original castle was not modified in any way, but the opposite is true. The medieval castle was much simpler, the perfect appearance of the castle was acquired by the chateau only during a romantic renovation in the 19th century. If you want to enjoy the natural beauty, the view from the tower will give you a view of the castle and the adjacent park with the river Doubrava.

The lords of Žleb were the Lichtemburks
The first mention of the original Žleby Castle dates back to the 13th century. After the people of Lichtemburk, the castle fell to the king, who then used it as a pledge. The castle was conquered by the Hussites and repaired in the spirit of late Gothic. Other owners carried out a renaissance reconstruction of the castle into a chateau. For a long time, the Žleby chateau was owned by the Auersperks, who carried out both Baroque and Neo-Gothic reconstruction. Through these reconstructions, the chateau acquired the appearance of a romantic medieval castle. The chateau has already been expropriated from other owners and is now the property of the state.
