Interesting facts Nový Hrad chateau

Come and enjoy the view from the castle tower on the Bohemian Central Mountains and get to know the history of this unique building, whose transformations from a Gothic fortress, through a Gothic fortified castle, a Renaissance chateau with vineyards, a large Baroque complex, which was recently used as a large estate.

The chateau offers a tour of rooms with Gothic frescoes, Gothic cellars, utility rooms (drying room, laundry room, bathroom, black kitchen, herb garden), as well as representative Baroque halls, including a magnificent castle chapel with unique stucco decoration. Another jewel is the private rooms of the owners with preserved wooden Renaissance painted flap ceilings. You will get acquainted with the fates of practically all owners - the lords of Jimlín, Novohradský of Kolovrat, Lobkovice, Strahov Premonstratensian Order, Count Varrensbach and his wife Maria Sidonie Šliková, the raunchy Anna Barbora of Löwenegg, as well as the Schwarzenberg princes. The interiors of the chateau also hide a number of occasional and permanent exhibitions.

Freely accessible are the horse underground stables, cellars under the tower, Barbara's Baroque garden and the castle tower. In the first courtyard you can then have a snack in the castle tavern.
