If you find yourself in the protected landscape area of Litovelské Pomoraví, visit the underground spaces of the natural monument Mladečská Cave. You will definitely not be disappointed, in the underground of the Třešín hill you will find rich stalactite decoration and underground lakes. The tour is safe and not physically demanding. The entrance building was newly built and provides visitors with appropriate facilities.

Mladečské caves have a long history
Mladečské caves have been known since the 19th century. They were first opened in 1921, then closed and, after modifications, reopened in 1951. The domes and stalactites line the entire tour route, but you will be most interested in the Panenská Cave and the Temple of Nature. You can admire the beautiful lake in Jezerní Cave. You will go through a complex system of corridors, labyrinths and domes, and in the hot summer you will cool off wonderfully.
What does a tour of the caves look like
You can easily get to Mladečské Caves directly from the village of Mladeč. A comfortable and cobbled path will take you to the entrance to the caves, where you will be taken in by guides. The caves are walked along modified concrete sidewalks, you ascend or descend exclusively on the corresponding stairs. Where there is a risk of falling, a handrail or low wall is installed. The tour route measures almost 400 m and lasts about 40 minutes.
Mladečské caves are well known to archaeologists
When visiting the caves themselves, you will appreciate not only the beauty of the stalactite formations, but also the exposition with archeological finds. You can see, for example, the bones of extinct animals from prehistory and the skeletons of people from the Early Stone Age. Their tools are also on display, and an exposition depicting the course of the excavations is also interesting. The excavations in the Mladečské Caves are unique, they are numerous finds of skeletal remains of the oldest individuals of the modern type. The exhibition on the Cromagnon is located in the Dome of the Dead, you can see the mannequins of prehistoric hunters during a ritual ceremony.
