Kramolín - Lipno

Kramolín is a Šumava peak, rising to a height of 899 m.n.m. It lies in the area of ​​Lučská hornatina about 2 km north of Lipno nad Vltavou. Above the Lipno reservoir, it rises to a height of about 180 meters.

How did the name Kramolín originate?

The Kramolín peak got its name from the settlement of the same name, which dates back to the 15th century and which is located on the north-eastern slope of the peak. The name is derived from the German Gromaling, which is derived from Graumat and the meaning is a pasture or glade, which arose as a result of deforestation.

Buildings on Kramolín

Directly at the top of Kramolín is the Treetop Trail, which also includes a lookout tower, from the top of which visitors have an impressive view of the southern part of the Šumava Mountains, the Lipno Reservoir, Kleť and the Alps.

Kramolín can be reached by two cable cars, both of which are part of the Lipno Ski Resort:
• Jezerní cable car - from the southwest, it is 1,219 meters long
• Střecha cable car - from the northeast direction, it is 863 meters long

In 1972, a ski resort was established in Kramolín. In 1984, it included 4 ski slopes and further development did not take place until the 1990s.
