Interesting facts Museum of the Cold War and Air Defense - Drnov

He is a relatively young man, was built between 1981 and 1984 and served until recently as the Command Post of the 71st Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade. 170 crew members were stably prepared here for a possible quick intervention and to ensure the safety of the airspace above Prague. The year 2004 became the last year of operation and since 2009 the building has been used as a museum and a place for occasional cultural events.

At present, a trial operation of the museum is underway and tours are possible only after ordering. Over time, the multi-storey underground space of 5500 m2 will turn into a memento of the Cold War. Here you will find the original technical equipment, an exhibition of rocket technology is being prepared and you will find out how the operation of the equipment was ensured in the event of chemical and radiation contamination of the external space.

Thanks to enthusiasts from the civic association Bunkr Drnov, you can look behind the scenes of the protective measures of our state. You will certainly be interested in, among other things, the halls of the combat command, where you can see planchets or glazed maps, designed to draw the current air situation.

The tour is not recommended for children under 6 and your four-legged friends. Part of the building is a visitor center offering refreshments.
