Interesting facts Narrow-gauge track Jindřichův Hradec

The region of south-eastern Bohemia is charming in itself, full of historic towns, wooded hills and ponds, and what's more, it offers its visitors something that other regions of our republic cannot offer. The Jindřichův Hradec narrow-gauge railway has been part of the color of the Jindřichův Hradec area since 1897. Two locals with a track gauge of 76 cm are a real rarity, which still serves the original purpose, ie passenger and freight transport, in both lines, Jindřichův Hradec-Nová Bystřice and Jindřichův Hradec - Obrataň. The first track is 33 km long, the second 46 km.

In the region, the Jindřichův Hradec narrow-gauge railway is one of the most visited tourist attractions and generally one of the most important technical monuments of the Czech Republic.

The narrow-gauge railway route is decorated with picturesque railway stations and charming stops, which are hidden in the woods and look extremely romantic, almost as if they were trying to underline the fairytale atmosphere of the local landscape as much as possible. Directly from the stops and the narrow-gauge railway station, there are a number of hiking and cycling trails, leading to other attractions in the Jinřichohrad region. A steam train can also be used to transport bicycles, and the station even offers accommodation.
