Mining open-air museum Mayrau
One of our mining open-air museums is called Mayrau and can be found in the village of Vinařice in the Kladno region. The exhibition has a concept of the last working day, so visitors walk through the open-air museum with the feeling that the miners left only a few hours ago. The open-air museum itself was established during the 1990s on the initiative of a party of people enthusiastic about mining and its history.

The town of Kladno itself is known nationwide for its mining and metallurgical history, and although coal ceased to be mined here as early as 2002, we still have Kladno in the subconscious associated with coal and iron mining. Thanks to industry, a number of important technical monuments have been preserved around the city to this day, including the Mayrau Mine.
Mayrau mine exposition
The Mayrau mine may be generally known to the Czechs from the song "Cestička k Mayrovce", in any case it is an interesting technical monument, which is currently open to visitors, offering them an exhibition of models of mining works, mineralogical finds or rescue equipment. Absolutely unique here is a demonstration of simulated mining operations, including a demonstration of excavation, located in the former cover of the civil defense at the top of Homole, where you can walk around various machines and hydraulic reinforcements. The tour includes a demonstration of the process of coal mining underground or a walk along the trails of miners and other technical attractions. Former miners work here as guides, so visitors get an explanation from the most professional insiders.
You can see the Art Nouveau mining machine Ringhoffer Prague, Robert or Koeppe, all from the first half of the 20th century, as well as about 130 mining works, a mineralogical collection, mines and many other attractions.
During the entire history of the operation, the Mayrau mine has mined more than 34 million tons of hard coal.
