Interesting facts Boskovice (ruins)

Boskovice Castle dates from the end of the 14th century, but was rebuilt in the Renaissance style around 1550. The owners of the castle also changed quite often, first the seat was owned by the nobility from Boskovice, then it was acquired by the lords of Kunštát. During their reign, the already mentioned Renaissance reconstruction began.

During the 15th century, the castle complex again became the property of the Boskovice nobility, who placed a ridge with seven teeth in their coat of arms. It is still the emblem of the town of Boskovice. For several years, the administration of the castle was also under the auspices of an important Dietrichstein family, the owners of the Boskovice Empire chateau. The 18th century was marked by destruction and destruction of the castle, the estate was stolen and destroyed. The building material was used, as was the custom at the time, for the construction of city buildings.

On the ruins of the Boskovice castle there is the only well in the whole Czech Republic, which is put into operation by means of a pedaling system. Its depth is also inspiring - 26 meters!

Culture lovers will be thrilled by the castles of Boskovice, Lysice, Rájec nad Svitavou and Letovice. Those looking for adrenaline and extraordinary experiences should visit the Moravian Karst. The Macocha Abyss and the Punkva Cave are among the most visited. A tour of the Punkva Caves must be booked in advance.
