Interesting facts Zubštejn Castle Ruins

The ruin is gradually being repaired
A walk through the ruins is enchanting not only for the beautiful view of the landscape, where you can see all the way to Brno, Křižanovsko and the rocks around Pohled, but also for the opportunity to see part of the Gothic palace and various siege and defense machines. An archaeological survey was carried out at the castle and some parts of the castle's equipment and coins were discovered here. Various cultural events also take place here.

The castle was originally called Kámen
The castle from the 13th century belonged to the lords of Pernštejn. It was originally called Kámen, then Zubří kámen, Zubrstein, Zubštejn. The castle was built in the Gothic style and was rebuilt many times. It consisted of a palace and an entrance tower. During the first reconstruction, the second palace was built, of which two floors have been preserved. Bridges led across the moats, protected by a brick bridgehead and a bridgehead. The manor changed owners and was stopped, in the 15th century it was returned to the Pernštejns. They used the castle and improved its equipment and improved the fortifications. However, the castle seemed uncomfortable and remote to them and was not representative enough for this important family. The castle was abandoned and quickly fell into disrepair.

Treasure, secret passage and other legends
Like every castle, Zubštejn has its reputation. Here, too, the treasure is hidden, a secret corridor leads to the castle, the ghost of the betrayed Blaženka wanders here, the daughter of Jiří z Poděbrad was supposed to be imprisoned here. One of the oldest legends is the legend of the origin of the Pernštejn family. Their ancestor tamed a wild bison and brought him to the castle. As a reward, he received the territory, which he was able to bypass in one day, and built the Pernštejn castle, after which the whole family was named.
