ZOO Ostrava

Like many other activities, the history of the Ostrava Zoo is connected with the activities of miners. Specifically down Zárubek and Alexander. In 1948, they began to build the so-called Mining Orchard (with an area of "only" 6 ha) in the metropolitan part of Ostrava-Kunčičky and soon transformed it into a popular nature park intended for recreation. The official origin of the garden is then considered to be the year 1951, when the first charter was approved.
