Sobotka folk architecture

The Sobotka center has a protected monument zone, as the classic timbered Sobotka buildings (folk architecture) have been preserved here. The square has a beautiful square shape with a dominant in the form of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. The church was built in the sixteenth century and boasts a very unique interior dating from this period. However, there are other timbered buildings on the square, such as the Gans House with the descriptive number 129. It is also worth mentioning that you will find the Fráni Šrámek Museum here, where a traditional literary competition with his name is held once a year. On Saturday you will also find Šolc's farm, a unique building from 1811, which was extensively renovated and transformed into a stylish gallery. It is open here from 1 May to 31 October. Daily from 8 am to 11.30 am and from 1 pm to 5 pm. In Sobotka you will find a large number of interesting timbered buildings, unfortunately only a few of them are in good technical condition, such as the House at St. Anne's at Novoměstská 75 or Vránův dům at Humprechtská 156. You can also find similar buildings in nearby Vesec near Sobotka. .

Sobotka, place of hiking trails

However, this is not the only thing you can see in Sobotka. Not far from the square you can reach a beautiful hunting lodge from the 17th century - Humprecht. Furthermore, Sobotka is also a starting point for many hiking trails. From here you can get to Kost Castle, Trosky, Staré Hrady Chateau or, for example, to the Plakánek Valley.

Sobotecký cemetery

No, we really aren't morbid. Next to the Vyšehrad Cemetery, it is probably the second most famous cemetery in the Czech Republic. This cemetery has already been sung by the local native Fráňa Šrámek, who is also buried here. However, many more personalities are buried here. The cemetery is located at the foot of the castle forest park just below the castle Humprecht and there is a beautiful view of Sobotka.
