Interesting facts Castle Blatná

This architectural gem is one of the most important monuments of the Czech Republic. The preserved condition of the castle, deep history, vast parks and, in addition, a shimmering water surface, all this gives the place a touch of uniqueness. After the Švihov water castle and the already mentioned Červená Lhota, Blatná belongs to the very top of tourist interest.

Blatná began to flourish during the 15th century, during the reign of an important aristocratic family of Lions originally from Rožmitál, who became the owners. The construction of chambers, palaces and also the overall improvement of the castle moat began. It is certainly worth mentioning the nobility of the Hildprants, thanks to which Blatná acquired its current form. During the 19th century, it was time for the complete regotization of the complex, a large English park was created and many more.

A pleasant tour of the castle chambers will bring you closer to the way of life of the nobility. You can take a look at the study of Jan Evangelista Purkyně, countless differently focused lounges and also an exhibition from arid Africa, originally from Ethiopia.

Castle park in English style

Romantics or families with children should not forget to visit the large castle park, where the castle nobility relaxed in the past. Take a walk along the narrow paths, where Johanka herself walked with King George of Poděbrady. It was here that they met for the first time, perhaps the magical place was to blame for their love. Children will surely be thrilled by the herd of fallow deer, which will surprise you with their tameness and fearless nature.
