Interesting facts Lnáře (chateau)

The last private owner was Karel Vaníček, who was seized by the state in 1948. In the communist period, the castle first fell into disrepair. In later years, dance balls were held here, and a kindergarten and cinema were established. Reconstruction began in 1972 and after 1980, the Czechoslovak government continued it because it wanted to use the castle for representation and as a center for recreation. It was a luxurious environment with an elevator, dining rooms, garages, bar, sauna, barbecue, mini golf, volleyball court.

Return to the original owners took place in 1993 and in 1999 the castle was opened to the public. Lnáře Castle is open from May to September. In the interiors you can see murals with themes from ancient mythology. You can see the chapel of St. Joseph with rich decoration and frescoes with biblical themes. You will also look at the castle garden and the salla terrain, the gallery, the cassette hall, the space under the tower, where they still have a functioning historical clock machine, and the fishing museum with photographs.

The charming garden around the castle is also worth a visit. It was built after 1727 and you will find eleven (out of the original twelve) statues representing zodiac signs. The author of the sculptures is the famous Ignazo Michael Platzer. The garden also has other statues, two fountains with pools, cellars, a mosque with two minarets and a top decorated with a crescent moon.
