Interesting facts Castle Bechyně

The Renaissance chateau Bechyně is the dominant feature of the town of the same name in the Tábor region. The building with a prismatic tower boasts mainly unusual paintings depicting battle and biblical scenes. Originally there was a Gothic castle, of which, however, only two wings remain. You can also see a granary, a former brewery, a riding school and stables. The most beautiful room of the castle is the wedding and Gothic hall.

After a tour that will introduce you to the most important owner of this estate, Petr Vok of Rožmberk, walk through the castle park with large oaks and a nice view of the surroundings. Today, the former brewery houses an exhibition of ceramics from Aleš's South Bohemian Gallery, and the Vladimír Preclík Museum is located in the chateau granary. Every year, this is where the Cultural Summer takes place, where the stars of the Czech popular music scene perform with deep regularity.

Surroundings

If you are already visiting Bechyně, don't forget to visit the so-called "Bechyně Rainbow". It is a reinforced concrete bridge 50 meters high above the river Lužnice with an unbeatable view.

Take a walk around Bechyně itself. It is a real beautiful spa town with many interesting museums and activities. Children will welcome the local mini-ZOO.

Lovers of history should go to the ruins of the Dobronice castle, which proudly looks down on the surroundings from a rocky hill from a height of 440 m above sea level.
