Depending on the location, you would say that the original castle was to be used exclusively for defense. The location at the confluence of two rivers directly encouraged this use. After damage in later times, however, the castle was rebuilt into a castle with all the conveniences of its time. The castle looks inconspicuous at first glance, but don't be fooled - the history is very varied thanks to the reconstruction of the Gothic castle.

From Gothic to Renaissance
The silver pike in the red field will remind you of the first owner of the castle - Hechty z Rosic (Hecht = German pike). It was a family with an important position, which was owned by the castle until the 15th century. During the Hussite wars, the castle was severely damaged and required a large number of repairs. Under the lords of Lipá, the reconstruction of the original castle into a chateau began. It soon became the property of the Žerotíns. The castle was converted into a dignified aristocratic Renaissance residence. Later, the chateau changed different owners, each of whom contributed in some way to the modification of the chateau. In 1925, the whole estate was nationalized and serves as a museum.

The rebellious castle of the Moravian nobility
In the fortified Rosice chateau, you could meet members of the leading Moravian nobility during the time of the Žerotíns' ownership. It was planned to speak against King Rudolf II. even the regime that came after the Battle of White Mountain. The fraternal priests were hiding here, and many other rebellious visitors passed through the castle. At this time, a large library was built here, later a baroque chapel was added.

Knight tournaments attract visitors
When visiting Rosice Castle, you will be taken into the past by unusual architecture and artistic decoration. You will see farm buildings as well as mansions, a music hall, a chapel, a library, a dining room and other rooms. If you get tired of the tour, you can relax and have fun during knight tournaments, which take place regularly at the castle and are a very popular pastime of visitors.
