Chateau Bruntál

The non-traditional layout of the circular section and the renaissance arcaded courtyard make the Bruntál chateau a special chateau building, unique in this respect in the Czech Republic. In addition, the chateau in Bruntál also served as a backdrop for the filming of the fairy tales Zlatník Ondra or Císař a Tambor.

Interesting facts Chateau Bruntál

In Silesia, the Bruntál chateau is one of the most important buildings of the same kind. It is a Renaissance chateau with Baroque alterations, which has original furniture and rare wall paintings from the Rococo period. The construction development of the chateau in Bruntál lasted more than five centuries and began in the late Gothic period, when a castle was built in its place, which underwent Renaissance and later Baroque reconstruction. The castle underwent further modifications in the 19th and 20th centuries.

At present, the most valuable interiors are open to the public. The oldest part of the chateau, the so-called Old Palace, consists of halls, which are now used for museum exhibitions, focusing on crafts, the nature of the region and the region. The chateau houses the regional Museum in Bruntál, a museum library, as well as a photo archive and a photo department. Sovinec Castle or the building of the former kosárna in Karlovice in Silesia, where scythes have historically been produced, also fall under the administration of the Bruntál Regional Museum.

The castle also includes a large castle park with salla terrain, a torso of the city walls with bastions and a pond.

At present, some of the halls of the Bruntál chateau are used for theatrical performances, weddings, concerts and other cultural events, which are sometimes transferred to the chateau park or courtyard.
