Studénka chateau

If you long to learn about the history of the region and the city and at the same time would like to relax in nature, be sure to visit the Studénka chateau and its large and beautiful park. You will find the castle on the outskirts of the city, after a tour of the castle itself and the adjacent park, you can visit the famous Wagon Museum, which is located here. The chateau itself also serves practical purposes - there is a ceremonial hall, a library, a basic art school and the seat of the Czech Union for Nature Conservation.

Old and New Castle
Studénka Chateau consists of the Old and New Chateau buildings. The old castle in the Renaissance style was built in the 16th century on the site of a Gothic fortress. In later years, it was further expanded and rebuilt. In the 18th century, this castle was rebuilt into a brewery. The Baroque New Castle was built in the 18th century. The last owners, the Blüchers of Wahlstatt, made a significant contribution to the current appearance of the chateau. They had a tower and a marble staircase added and set up a park with exotic trees around the castle.

After World War I, the castle had practical use
If you wanted to visit the castle after the First World War, you would find that there is a business school for legionnaires, later a burgher school and even municipal apartments. The chateau was bought by the village of Studénka in 1936, after modifications and the chateau is again used for cultural purposes. The most famous of its exhibitions is the Wagon Museum, where adults and children can enjoy themselves.

Railway museum and functional track
A special feature of Studénka Castle is the location of the Wagon Museum. In the interiors of the castle, you would definitely not expect a functional track or models of locomotives and wagons. On the individual floors, you can walk through various exhibits related to the expansion of the railway in our country, get acquainted with the history of the local factory producing wagons. The biggest attraction is a functional model railway with two circuits of tracks.
