Interesting facts chateau Usov

The castle attracts hunting - forestry museum
Úsov Chateau can offer you a tour of a unique collection of hunting trophies. However, it is not the only thing that makes the castle stand out, it is one of the oldest aristocratic residences in northern Moravia. It offers a tour of the castle grounds, an exhibition of paintings, a haunted labyrinth, fairs with demonstrations of crafts, a zoo and other events. The biggest attraction is, of course, the hunting and forestry museum, founded in 1898. More than ten thousand exhibits are stuffed animals, insects, antlers, minerals, models and poaching weapons. Exotic pieces were brought by the Liechtensteins from their expeditions to various continents.

From the Sternbergs to Liechtenstein
The Royal Gothic Castle Úsov was founded in the middle of the 13th century. It became the property of the Šternberk family, later the Boskovice and then the Liechtensteins. It was an important point of defense in times of war. Part of the walls and towers of the original castle have been preserved. A Renaissance chateau was built on the site of a Gothic palace, which was later rebuilt in the Baroque style. The chateau became the administrative center of the estate and the seat of the first forestry school in Moravia. In the 19th century, a hunting and forestry museum was established here. The castle has been the property of the state since 1945, and currently belongs to the town of Úsov.

Children are not forgotten in Úsov
The antiquity of the chateau is reminiscent of an interactive exhibition intended primarily for children. In the oldest part of the castle, the Vlašim Palace, tasks and riddles are prepared. The exposition Riddles of the Lords of Vlašim is complemented by scenery and paintings - the hall of the Lord of Vlašim, a black kitchen, a torture chamber or a servants' room complete the period atmosphere. If children guess the puzzles and complete the tasks, they will be rewarded. At the same time, they can relax after a demanding tour and end the whole trip with refreshment on the terrace, where you can buy snacks.
