There used to be a water castle here
You will see with your own eyes that the chateau has undergone many changes since its inception. It stands on the site of a fortress, which was rebuilt into a Gothic castle in the 14th century. During the reign of the Lords of Pernštejn, a massive fortification was built around the castle, which has been preserved to this day. The original castle was later rebuilt into a Gothic-Renaissance chateau. In another historical period, the castle served members of the imperial court. It was not conquered even during the Thirty Years' War. The castle was later used for various purposes and after the Second World War began to decay. Part of the chateau was not reopened to the public until 1997, and work is still being done to make other parts accessible.

The transition between the castle and the castle
The Pardubice chateau is unique in Europe - the transition between the castle and the chateau has been completely preserved here. The castle looks like a fortress, there is also a moat and ramparts. At the same time, however, the chateau is also a comfortable aristocratic residence with all the comforts typical of the castles of that time. The original stone vaults meet Renaissance paintings and coffered ceilings, and the ancient past will breathe on you from all corners.
