The castle offers instruction and entertainment
You can get to the castle through a moat over a stone bridge, where you can admire the statue of St. Jan Nepomucký from the Baroque period. The chateau houses the Central Bohemian Museum. In addition to a tour of the preserved rooms of the castle, this also offers other entertainment - these are mainly examples of methods of archaeological work in the exhibition The Journey of Prehistory to the Czech State. Originally there was a Gothic water fortress
In the 13th century, a Gothic water fortress stood on the site of today's castle. It was rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau in the 16th century. During the Thirty Years' War, the chateau was severely damaged several times and repaired in the Baroque style. In the 19th century, the castle was used mainly for economic purposes, after nationalization it began to decay. After a gradual reconstruction, the beautiful chateau premises were repaired and the collections of the Central Bohemian Museum were located here.

Fires and floods
When you walk through the history of the chateau, you will find that natural and other catastrophes have become popular with the chateau. During the Thirty Years' War, the castle was destroyed by fire and conquest by the Saxon army. After 1948, it was used by an agricultural cooperative and fell into disrepair. However, it was saved and costly reconstruction work took place. However, the castle was again damaged by floods in 2002, it was temporarily closed. It is currently reopened, but a major refurbishment is underway.
