Interesting facts Cermak Hill Lookout Tower

The iron lookout tower, decorating Čermákův vrch near Krátošice, is located about 15 km south-east from Tábor. The official opening took place on May 5, 2001.

A total of 90 steps lead to the viewing platform. The view from 17 meters above the ground offers a view of the Novohradské Mountains, Šumava, Blanský Forest, Choustník, Tábor and the Central Bohemian Uplands. The total height of the lookout tower is 20 meters.

Access is really easy. A blue hiking trail leads to it across a dirt road, just behind the last houses in Krátošice.

The lookout tower is open daily without restrictions.

The lookout tower also serves as a mobile operator's transmitter. It is located in the Tábor district near Krátošice on Čermákovo vrch, which has always been called Na Šibenici. The hill used to be used by surveyors, who were served by two triangulation towers.

At the end of the 1990s, the municipality's leadership made an effort to build a lookout tower. A project for a wooden lookout tower was even developed, but the financial costs exceeded the possibilities of the municipality. In the end, an agreement was reached between the municipality and the company Radiomobil, which built a steel tower here, serving as a transmitter and at the same time as a tourist lookout tower.
A covered room was built under the gallery of the tower, which serves as a refuge for tourists in bad weather. The lookout tower was ceremoniously opened on May 5, 2001.
