Žďár nad Sázavou and its surroundings offer many cultural and artistic attractions. One of the tips for the trip is the Rosička u Sázavy lookout tower. It is an iron tower, serving as a tourist lookout tower and construction of mobile operators.

Interesting facts Rosička lookout tower near Sázava

It is located at an altitude of 644 meters on the hill Rosička near the village of the same name, about 10 km southwest of Žďár nad Sázavou.

The lookout tower with a total height of 42 meters was first opened in 2001. A total of 140 steps lead to the observation platform at a height of 24 meters. Above, a beautiful circular view of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, Žďárské vrchy, Železné hory, Posázaví and others awaits you.

You can easily get to the lookout tower from the road connecting Rosička and Nížkov. From there, a path of about 0.5 km leads to the lookout tower. At the beginning of this road there is a parking lot.

The lookout tower is freely accessible and open daily without restrictions.

The construction of the lookout tower is a standardized telecommunication mast. At this point, however, one building used to stand. It was an air navigation beacon, which was here between the wars and during World War II had to be demolished due to poor technical condition. There was also a triangulation, which served as a lookout tower for tourists.
The current lookout tower was created on the initiative of the representatives of the municipalities of Nížkov, Rosička and Sázava. They have been thinking about the construction since the early 1990s, but it was only in cooperation with Český mobil, which financed the entire construction, that the lookout tower was built. The tower was first opened to tourists on August 12, 2001.


The tower consists of a total of five parts. First, there are two parts with a diameter of 2 meters and a length of 12 meters and then a spiral staircase. The other three parts are 6 meters long and slightly smaller in diameter. The tower was supposed to withstand a wind of 200 km / h. The operator of the lookout tower is the village of Sázava. During the tourist season, there is a stall with souvenirs and refreshments.
