Interesting facts Braunberg Vista Point

The vertical structure of the lookout tower is made of wood, while some elements, such as stairs and railings, are made of steel. The lookout tower is located on Hnědý vrch near Pec pod Sněžkou, approximately 25 km northwest of Trutnov.

The tower is located at an altitude of 1207 meters and the official opening took place on July 1, 2009. In total, the lookout tower reaches a height of 31 meters and the viewing platform is located at a height of 27 meters above the ground. After climbing 128 steps, a beautiful panoramic view of the entire Krkonoše Mountains with the three highest mountains in the country - Sněžka, Luční hora and Studniční hora - will open up in front of you. You can also see Růžová hora, Pěnkavčí vrch, Javor, then Pec pod Sněžkou and settlements in the vicinity. There is a very nice view from here to the valley of Obří dol. Weather permitting, you will also see the Eagle Mountains and the Jeseníky Mountains with Praděd Mountain.

You can easily get to the lookout tower by cable car, which will take you directly to the upper station to the lookout tower.

The opening hours of the lookout tower are adapted to the time when the cable car is open. From June to October you can get here from 9 am to 4 pm.

The lookout tower on Hnědý vrch has been standing since the summer of 2009 and a cable car was built here in 2003. The lookout tower was built here mainly to create a new tourist destination.
At the beginning of 2007, a project was developed, the same year in the autumn, a zoning decision was settled, and in 2008 the town hall in Pec pod sněžkou received subsidies from the EU, necessary for the construction of a lookout tower. The construction was undertaken by Skanska.

The foundations of the lookout tower were built in the autumn of 2008. The ceremonial opening of the lookout tower took place on July 1, 2009, but its construction was not very simple. For example, the access road to the lookout tower had to be modified, the individual parts were prepared and assembled in advance only at Hnědý vrch, and the weather was not very good for all this construction. It snowed very often, even during June.
The construction of the lookout tower is adapted to the harsh weather conditions that prevail on Brown Hill and at the same time it is designed to blend naturally with the surrounding environment. The project was developed by Martin Rosa.

The lookout tower has three viewing platforms. The floor plan has the shape of a triangle and the vertical elements are made of wood. The middle column, which serves as the stair spindle, is made of steel. The gable roof and the last step of the staircase are supported by steel beams. The height of the lookout tower is 31 meters, which has now become the highest lookout tower in the Krkonoše Mountains.
