The lookout tower of the New Town Hall in Ostrava
This town hall was built between 1925 and 1930. It is the largest town hall complex in the Czech Republic. The lookout tower is the tallest town hall tower in our country. The observation terrace is located at a height of 73 meters, the total height of the tower is 85.6 meters.

The terrace has a really beautiful view. You can see the panorama of the Moravian-Silesian and Těšín Beskydy Mountains, the Moravian Gate, Oderské Vrchy and see Poland. With good visibility you can see the Hrubý Jeseník massif with the highest peak of Moravia - Praděd, as well as the peaks of Malá Fatra. Binoculars are available to visitors, which can bring the beauties of Ostrava and its surroundings closer. You can easily get to the tower by elevator, so it is one of the few lookout towers that is barrier-free.
The price of admission includes an explanation of the guide, which will colorfully describe the history and present of the city and recommend interesting places in Ostrava and the region, which are from the gallery and are not visible. The operation of the tower, including guides, is provided by the Ostrava Information Service s.r.o., which is located under the tower on the 6th floor of the town hall as a city and tourist information center. In addition to guided tours of the town hall, it is also possible to order walking or bus tours of the city or its surroundings, depending on interest and various thematic orientations.
