The history of Městská hora marked a significant milestone in 1879. At that time, the Association for the Decoration of the City of Beroun decided to establish a forest park there.

However, more significant activities took place here only in the 1930s, when the Jelínek company set up a reservoir here and it occurred to it to complete this building and the above-ground part, which would serve as a lookout tower. The construction costs were then estimated at some CZK 50,000. The city of Beroun agreed with the proposal, but had only CZK 35,000 available. However, the construction was still carried out at the expense of Jelínek.

The then tower measured almost 14 meters and was first opened for the Easter holidays in 1936. At that time, the city took care of the operation of the lookout tower.

The lookout tower was then in operation until the 1980s, when it had to be closed for security reasons.
The tower was not repaired until 1998 by the company Radiomobil, which uses it for telecommunication services, but also made it accessible to tourists, whom it again serves as a lookout tower. The lookout tower was reopened on September 10, 1999.

If you go to Městská hora, don't forget to visit the famous bear enclosure and, of course, the town of Beroun itself.
