Drahoušek lookout tower near Osečany

You would find the Drahoušek u Osečan lookout tower on Drahoušek hill at an altitude of 504 meters, about 2 km to the east from the village of Osečany and about 8 km to the north from Sedlčany.

The lookout tower was opened on March 20, 2004. Its total height is 48 meters and the viewing platform is located 32 meters above the ground. After climbing 168 steps, you will have a view of the entire Benešov region and, if there is good visibility, then of Ještěd and Milešovka.

Access to the lookout tower is very easy, mainly thanks to good markings and also great visibility of the lookout tower from a distance. After Osečany, turn right towards Neveklov on a narrower asphalt road. From here, the road still leads uphill for about 2 km. Approximately 300 meters below the lookout tower is a car park.

Opening hours in July and September are on Fridays from 1 pm to 5 pm and on weekends between 10 am and 5 pm. During the holidays you can get here daily except Mondays from 10 am to 5 pm.

Drahoušek Hill, on which the lookout tower is located, is located at an altitude of 504 meters near Osečany. The building serves not only as a lookout tower, but above all as a mobile operator's transmitter. Construction plans were drawn up in 2001, but construction did not begin until two years later, in the summer of 2003.

The body of the lookout tower is formed by a tube, around which an open staircase spirals. It is formed by a grate, and therefore people suffering from dizziness should not visit the lookout tower.

The lookout tower is very popular with tourists. In the year following its opening, in 2004, a total of 8.5 thousand tourists visited it!
