Lookout tower Kuníček near Petrovice

In addition to tourist purposes, the Kuníček u Petrovic lookout tower also serves as a transmitter for mobile operators. It is an iron building with a stone base, located at an altitude of 551 meters. It is located at the foot of the Hodětín hill near the village of Kuníček, which is part of the village of Petrovice. This place is about 20 km southwest of Sedlčany.

The lookout tower is 60 meters high. To its viewpoint, first 34 steps lead to the first viewing platform and then another 153 steps to the gallery. The lookout tower offers a beautiful circular view of the Šumava Mountains, Bohemian Siberia, Brdy and Central Pošumaví.

If you are coming from Petrovice, head west to Kuníčko. The lookout tower can be seen from afar. In Kuníček, turn left at the very beginning of the village towards the lookout tower along the footpath leading across the meadow. You can also drive on the asphalt in the same direction.

The lookout tower on Hodětín is completely unique. It was designed by architects Charvát and Konopy. The construction of the lookout tower consists of a massive concrete foundation, which has its own viewpoint at a height of 10 meters above the ground. It is followed by a steel structure 60 meters high. The viewing platform is covered and placed at a height of 37 meters above the ground. It is located directly under the antenna carriers. The lookout tower was built by EXCON, a.s. and serves all three mobile operators.

The lookout tower was established at the beginning of 2003 and the grand opening took place on June 28, 2003. Its operation is currently taken care of by the Petrovice Municipal Office.
