Interesting facts Kleť - the highest peak of the Blanský Forest

Blanský Forest is a part of the Šumava foothills and conquering its mentioned peak is not as easy as it might seem at first glance. You can take the cable car or the bike path, but you can prove that you still have enough physical strength only on foot. If someone chooses to walk under the cable car, they will walk quite a bit, but we still recommend this "walk". It is sometimes good to compare forces with a natural obstacle. You are all the happier when you humble it.

After an almost hour-long walk to Kleť, a view of the stone tower opens up in front of you, in addition to the first lookout tower of its kind in our country - the Josef lookout tower from 1825. Right next to it stands a restaurant and near it Unfortunately, they are in the shade for most of the day, as they are surrounded by lush vegetation.

However, the peak is also known due to the occurrence of another attraction - the observatory. It is an offshoot of the České Budějovice Observatory and Planetarium and is an important place for the discovery of several cosmic bodies, including the asteroid Kleť. This building is the work of the second half of the 1950s and is located just below the top.

Come and enjoy the view of a large part of the Šumava foothills, Temelín or even the alpine peaks. The lookout tower is open all year round except Mondays.
