Interesting facts Ota Pavel Memorial Hall

In Luh pod Branovem, in the ferry building, the Ota Pavel Memorial Hall was built to commemorate this important figure in Czech literature. The place falls under the village of Branov near Rakovník and was built thanks to the voluntary activities of a few enthusiasts who reconstructed the house since 1986 and then modified the interior in the second phase.

The memorial hall could only be remotely described as a museum. It is a simple room with objects that resemble the life and work of Ota Pavel. There are mainly showcases full of photographs from the writer's life, some capture shots from the filming of The Death of Beautiful Roe Deer. An interesting object is an old rowboat attached to the ceiling, which, however, has not been preserved in its entirety, or objects for fishing.

Those interested can contribute admission in a voluntary amount or sign the guest book for the memory and honor of the place.

Just nearby, on the way from Roztoky to Branov, it is possible to visit the pub U Rozvědčíka, known for its works by Ota Pavel. Even today you can have a great lunch or a dewy beer, in winter in a cozy room with a stove and in summer for a pleasant sitting in the garden in front of the pub.
