Interesting facts Educational trail Zemská brána

Where will the trail take you?

The source of the Divoká Orlice lies in Poland and flows into the territory of our republic near Trčkov, creating a border about 30 km long with Poland to the Land Gate. Near the town of Týniště nad Orlicí, it connects with Tichá Orlica and forms the river Orlice with it, which then flows into the Elbe.

The Zemská brána nature reserve is without a doubt the most beautiful section through which this river flows. There are a number of rapids and boulders in the riverbed, even the river is lined by gneiss rock formations.

Bridges in the nature trail

Let's mention, at least briefly, the bridges in the Zemská brána nature trail. The first one is made of stone and we find it at the beginning of the trail. It dates from 1903 and was renovated in 2004-2005. The bridge fits very romantically into the surrounding landscape and gives the impression of a real gateway to Bohemia.

Let us also mention the Smuggler's Footbridge, which once, in ancient times, actually served smugglers. Its original form was completely different from the one you will encounter today. It is currently a wooden bridge.

Interesting places

An interesting place on the route of the Zemská brána trail is the Lusthaus hunting empire, which was used as a mill in later years. Unfortunately, even the original castle park has not retained its appearance to this day.

Along the way, you will also come across several fortress buildings from the period before the Second World War.

Another interesting place is Ledříček's rock, which reaches a height of up to 15 meters, and in the wall of which hides a small cave, which served as a refuge for the robber Ledříček.

Character

On the road between Bartošovice and the settlement of Čihák there is a parking lot, which represents the beginning of the trail. It then leads over the mentioned stone bridge through the valley of the Divoká Orlice and ends in the settlement of Amerika near Klášterec nad Ohří. The total length of the route is around 3 km, we find a total of 10 stops on it and it is more of an undemanding and suitable for children.
