Hoštice u Volyně
Who wouldn't know her? A small village in southern Bohemia, near Strakonice, set in a magical region, but generally almost insignificant. Were it not for the commercial success of the film trilogy Sun, Hay, ... it would be difficult for crowds of tourists to come here year after year. The smell of hay, a hot summer, South Bohemian well-being and, above all, the Czech mentality - perhaps that appealed to us all the most in the sung and rejected trilogy from Hoštice u Volyně, directed by Zdeněk Troška.

Interesting facts Hoštice u Volyně
From Strakonice, Hoštice u Volyně is approximately 10 km to the south. The strange thing is that almost nowhere you will find any special signs and signposts to the famous movie village. The only reason is probably that Hostice doesn't need anything like that. Whoever wants, will surely find them without any problems, and that there are really many who want to find them! Tourists come here every year, mainly during the summer holidays, and of course they are mainly looking for places that appeared in the films Sun, Hay, ..., namely a village square, the Škopek house, a pub, a chateau or a cowshed.
Hostice is basically a small village, so you will have all the main film "attractions" within reach of the village square. Only the cowshed and the local pub are a bit off, but not too much. In the direction from Strakonice (from road no. 4), a turn to the left leads to Hoštice, where you will be greeted by a well-known train station, where, at least in the film, the train never stops due to delays. Aside from Hostice, there is also a mill, where a "big black dog and a dead churchman" haunted.
Those for whom the films The Sun, Hay, ... have become cult, will certainly enjoy a kind of open-air museum, which was created in the place of collective farms. There are a number of objects that were used during the filming, such as Venc's motorbike or the bed on which Helena Růžičková's film mother lay in the backyard.
